WHERE TO STAY
Really, you can’t go wrong when it comes to staying in Charleston. Depending on what you’re looking for, you may prefer to stay in historic downtown Charleston or you may want to stick closer to the beach for a more casual vibe.
For our wedding festivities, it probably makes the most sense to stay in Folly Beach. Folly is 5 miles from James Island Presbyterian Church (where we’re kicking off the big day) and less than 3 miles from Bowens Island Restaurant (where we’re ending the big day).
The tiny town of Folly Beach has just one large hotel – The Tides. Mike and Cara have stayed here before and can vouch that the rooms are clean, comfortable, have great views of the beach and are within walking distance of Folly restaurants.

Folly also has a few bed-and-breakfasts (The Regatta Inn and Water's Edge Inn) a bit further from the beach and Center Street/restaurants. While these have good reviews, Cara and Mike haven't stayed in either.
-
NOTE: The Holliday Inn on Folly is a small, local house with rooms available - but it is not part of the national Holiday Inn hotel chain. Mike and Cara can’t recommend this one, so unless you’re up for an adventure, you may want to stay elsewhere.
If you want to stay in Folly but don’t want to stay in a hotel, there are lots of great condo/house options. We’ve had luck booking through My Ocean Rental or Homeaway.
